The FMHA “Museum Happenings” is published monthly and more frequently as needed to keep you up-to-date on events at the Fort Miles Museum. This update is as of November 26th and covers the month of December.

Fort Miles Battery 519 Museum Tours

Fort Miles Museum is open 10:00 am – 4:00 pm each Friday and Saturday.

Guided tours of Battery 519 are conducted by Delaware State Parks’ historic interpreters. Through December 19th, tours are scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays at 11:00 am and 2:00 pm. Please note no tours will be offered on December 25th and 26th.

A $5/person tour charge in is effect (children 7 and under excepted). These are group tours limited to 15 visitors per tour. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling 302-644-5007.

The Museum is subject to compliance with Delaware safety regu-lations, including the requirement that face masks be worn inside the Museum/Battery 519.

Fort Miles Lantern Tour: December 12th at 5:30 pm.

Explore Fort Miles by lantern light and discover U-boats on the prowl, sailors in distress and a unique look into what life was like for soldiers stationed at Fort Miles during World War II. There is a 15-person limit and advance reservations are required by calling

302-644-5007. This tour is for ages 10 and older with a paying adult. The tour fee is $5 per person. This tour starts at the Fort Miles Museum Orientation Building.

Fort Miles History Hunt: You Choose Date and Time

This is a self -guided tour. Go to the historic site’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/FortMilesHistoricSite and grab the list of clues and head out. As you untangle the clues, the history of defense at Cape Henlopen will be revealed. Recommended for ages 10 and up – no fee.
